Hi Peter

A number of people have asked me if you now have to have an Adwords campaign before you can use the Google Keyword Planner. The answer is no, but if you go about signing up for the keyword tool the wrong way, you will essentially be locked out until you do create that campaign. I recorded a short video tutorial showing you how to sign up and use the Google Keyword Planner without having to set up an Adwords campaign. You can watch the tutorial here:

Google Webmaster Trends Analyst Gary Illyes joined Bruce Clay for a candid conversation this week, sharing his insights into topics vital to SEOs in a live video Hangout. There were several takeaways for the SEO community that came out of the interview, including:

Google considers Panda part of the core algorithm now, and Illyes admits he'd like to change the perception of Panda as a penalty.
In the future, Google plans to slowly update the Panda algorithm updates with refreshes, while meanwhile, the plan is to have Penguin updates happen in real time.
He describes the next refreshes of both Panda and Penguin as "months away," but explains that when changes are made, they won't necessarily be announced.

This is just a quick heads up to let you know that I've posted a new article on my site.

The article is called "Windows 10–Wait or Upgrade now?" and covers some of my own experiences with Windows 10, as well as tries to help you answer the question - should you upgrade now or wait. On one of the computers I upgraded, Windows 10 was unusable because of the speed. It was just so sloooow. However, I did find a fix for that and mentioned the fix in the article.

This is just a heads up. Over the last few weeks I've been working on updates to my SEO 2015 & Beyond book. During the updates, I decided that my SEO checklist (which was a completely separate book) should be included in the latest edition of the book, so that is now added as well. The book now packs a lot more information that is totally up to date.

Yesterday, I finally published SEO 2016 & Beyond to Amazon Kindle. The paperback will be following soon. This year I have not done this, mainly because of changes at Amazon. Therefore there is no free upgrade to this version.
