Hi Peter

I put my Amazon Kindle book "SEO 2016 & Beyond" fr.ee on Amazon from 27th November until today with every intention of telling you about it, but I forgot. Because of this, I added an extra day. It should be fr.ee tomorrow as well (1st December). I believe this is only for Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, but Amazon changed something and I did not see an option to extend the UK site. That means UK readers may only have until the end of today - sorry.

I wanted to try a little experiment with ranking on Amazon, so am not giving you a direct link to the book. Go to Amazon and search for SEO. Select the Kindle section of Amazon, then scroll through the listings until you find my book. On Amazon.co.uk that should be easy. On Amazon.com I've seen it anywhere from second page to sixth page. If you do not know what my book looks like, check out my site http://ezseonews.com as you'll see it listed there. Remember, it is the 2016 that you are looking for.

Finally today, a quick reminder. I setup an offer on my site so you could get any of my Udemy courses for just $8 each. That offer will expire tomorrow as well. The coupons are set to expire tonight/tomorrow.

The $8 Black Friday applies to the following courses:

1. Learn How to Move a WordPress Website
2. Install WordPress Locally – No Monthly Web Hosting Costs
3. How to Write Great Web Content
4. Installing WordPress – Installation, Registrars & Hosting
5. WordPress for Beginners – Master WordPress Quickly
6. CSS – Comprehensive CSS for Beginners
7. SEO Primer – Search Engine Optimization for Beginners
8. SEO – Search Engine Optimization for 2015
9. Convert HTML to WordPress
10. Creating a Membership site with Wishlist Member
11. Make Money Teaching on Udemy

Check out details here:

$8 but ends today.

Hi Peter

This is just a heads up that I've posted a new article on my site. If you are looking to make a fresh start in the New Year, consider reading the article.

I got a lot of feedback from people after introducing you to Udemy Instructor Alun Hill in a previous newsletter. Many of you could not believe how much he was earning as an instructor on Udemy. To help those of you that want to teach online, I wrote an article today for my site called "How to Teach Online". It cites a few reasons why Udemy is a great platform to get involved with and highlights 4 courses that I'd recommend any new instructor (or seasoned pro) goes through. Obviously I've included my own course in those 4, but I am the odd one out, because the other three instructors are earning far more than I am.

Since Udemy now have Black Friday specials, you can pick any or all of these up at a fraction of the full cost.

Check out the article here:

Comments, suggestions etc, please leave on that page.

Hi Peter

Yesterday I sent you an email with a link to a page on my site that was supposed to show a video I put together highlighting some of the great courses that are available on Udemy. Remember that today is the last day to get almost any course there for just $10. Tonight, the prices start to increase. Unfortunately, shortly after I sent the email, I tweaked the URL of my page a little, and that broke the link I sent you. It was several hours before a kind sole alerted me to my mistake (thanks Steve).

The link is now fixed, and should work. That link is:

http://ezseonews.com/bf

I also got an email from someone asking me how I got started as a Udemy instructor. They were impressed with the figures I show in that video. Well, the course I took that persuaded me to become an instructor was by Alun Hill. He is one of Udemy's top instructors, and I pointed out another of his courses in that video above.

Alun actually averages a LOT more than I make on Udemy, though I do have aspirations to catch him up. Alun has a massive 71,560 unique students at the time of writing this, with 15 courses. That dwarfs my own stats of 9,313 unique students and 11 courses. However, I have used a lot of the tips in Alun's course to get to where I am, and I am extremely grateful for him for sharing his own strategy. The course where Alun shows how he has achieved his own success on Udemy is here, and it's only $10 until midnight tonight:

That's all for now.

In this issue:

1. Wordpress Sticky Widgets

2. Wordpress Pagination

3. Top 8 Royalty Free Images Sites

4. Black Friday on Udemy

5. Windows 10 - A few more lessons learnt

Hi Peter

This is the first full length newsletter for a while. I had several items I wanted to let you know about so I've listed them below with a short description and a link to read the full article on my site. As always, if you have any comments on any of the items, please leave comments on the site. Thanks!

Let's get on with it....

1. Wordpress Sticky Widgets

When someone scrolls down a webpage as they read, everything in the sidebar scrolls off the page. If you have adverts in that sidebar, chances are your visitors will miss it. Wouldn't it be good to have the most important advert scroll down the page with the visitor, always keeping that advert visible as they read your page? I've recorded a video showing the plugin I use to achieve this. It's a fr.e.e plugin. You can watch the video here:

http://ezseonews.com/wordpresstutorials/wordpress-sticky-widgets/

2. Wordpress Pagination

Do you have any really long posts on your website? Did you know that breaking up these long posts into shorter ones actually have a few benefits? In this video, I'll tell you about the major benefits, and also show you the feature built into Wordpress that allows you to easily split longer posts into multiple shorter ones.

http://ezseonews.com/wordpresstutorials/wordpress-post-pagination/

3. Top 8 Royalty Free Images Sites

Web pages look better with images, but you need to be careful where you get your images from. You can pay for them from commercial image sites like iStock Photo, but they cost quite a lot for the average webmaster. This article will show you my favourite 8 websites that offer royalty-free (even for commercial use) images.

http://ezseonews.com/general/royalty-free-images/

4. Black Friday on Udemy

It'll soon be Black Friday, and Udemy start their Black Friday deals today, with most courses just $10. In this post, I'll highlight some of the great deals to be had, and also give you coupons to get any of my own courses from just $8. That includes the new course I released at the end of last week, entitled "How to Write Great Web Content". Even if you are not interested in any of the courses on Udemy, you might be interested in watching the video on my page anyway. I'll show you my earnings tab inside my Udemy account so you can see how much I've made as an Instructor this year! If you want to become an instructor, be sure to check out my "Make Money Teaching on Udemy" course. That's also just $8 from my site while coupons last.

Here is the link to my article:

http://ezseonews.com/bf

5. Windows 10 - A few more lessons learnt

Since upgrading to Windows 10 on my main laptop (as described here: http://ezseonews.com/technical-stuff/lessons-learnt-from-windows-10-upgrade/ ), I've had 3 "black screens" with just a cursor visible. It seems that this is a common problem, and reinstalling an older graphics card driver seems to fix it for me. However, to install that, I need to boot into Windows and there lies the problem. I have a black screen and cannot see Windows. I decided to try booting up in Safe Mode, but the F8 (or Shift F8) did not work. I don't think those old shortcuts work in Windows 10. A lot of instructions I found for rebooting in safe mode showed how to do this from within Windows itself - again, not an option for me. I did find a solution though. When I started my machine, it did get to the lock screen. From there, rather than entering my password, I clicked the power button bottom right. That brings up a menu which includes "Restart".
The secret here is to press the SHIFT key while to click Restart, and that will then reboot the computer to a screen that allows you to go into diagnostics/advanced start options, etc. Careful navigation of that screen lead me to an option to reboot in safe mode. After doing so, and reinstalling my graphics driver, I am back up and running.

I also found out that a new upgrade to Windows 10 was released this week (version 1511). My spare laptop was offered this update, so I updated it. It's not a service pack, but a full Windows 10 download again. In other words, a complete replacement of the old Windows 10 with a brand new one. The update worked fine on my spare laptop, so I went into the System Updates section on my main laptop, only to see that the upgrade was not being offered. Apparently Microsoft won't offer it to you until at least 31 days have passed since upgrading to Windows 10. The reason is simply that for 31 days you have the option to revert back to Windows 8. The old operating system backup is stored on your computer for that 31 days. While that old operating system (in the WinOld folder, or something like that) is on your computer, you won't get offered the update. When your 31 days are up, that old operating system is cleaned from your computer and
the new update is offered.

I wanted the new update especially to see if it fixed the searching issue I talked about in that other article I linked to above. Therefore I found a way around the 31 days problem. I deleted the old operating system and my System Updates then found the new update. If you want to go the same route, there is a proper way to delete the old OS. Use the Windows utility called "Disk Clean-Up" tool. This gives you the option of removing the old OS, and this is the way you should do it. After removing, Windows should find the new update.

Has the update fixed the search issues? I don't know yet. I need to restart my computer to install the update and I wanted to get this out first. My second laptop didn't have this issue, so cannot tell from that installation. If you are interested, ask the question in the comments section of the online newsletter and I'll let you know. You can find this newsletter online here:

http://ezseonews.com/internet-marketing-tips/ezseo-newsletter-352/

OK, that's it for this newsletter. Hope there was something you found interesting.
