It's been a while since I wrote anything about SEO, and quite a lot has happened in that time. Here are some of the more interesting things I've seen in the last couple of months:

* An article by Moz.com looks at whether you can rank without links. The conclusion won't shock you, but their data is interesting and worth a read. The full article is here:

* Would you like free content from Reuters? Reuters announced in June that they were going to start offering pictures, video and text to publishers. Check out Reuters Media Express for more details:

* Recent Google updates include:

The "Mobilegeddon" update that was supposed to favour mobile-friendly sites in mobile searches. As previously reported, I found that my test site did no better, or no worse after converting it to a mobile-friendly site. How did your site do after you converted it to a mobile-friendly site? Let me know as I am really interested to see if anyone had major gains in traffic after this update.

More recently we had the "Quality Update" on May 3rd 2015 (oringially called the "Phantom 2" update. The update seems to have been tweaks to the "quality signals" that Google use in their algorithm. Read more about this update here:
