SEO Tip - Are You Isolated?

An isolated node, is a page with no
incoming links from the outside world.
It happens more often than you think.
Most commonly with blog posts, videos
and articles.

So if you find a video, page, post,
graphic, or anything that links to you,
link to it, with a social bookmark or two.
That will give the node, the link love it
needs to start passing its juice onto you.

(Google stated many years ago, that a page
without at least one incoming link doesn't
count.) So just give it one incoming link,
and its link juice will count towards you.

Your Wisdom on Twitter

Have you been making pithy posts on
Twitter? Heck, you may be full of pith for
all I know. ;-)

But seriously... Twitter doesn't plan on
keeping a permanent record of what you
said. So I suggest you backup your Tweets.

There are several services available. I
found this one, exceptionally easy to use.

Where Did Phil Wiley Go?

Veteran marketer Phil Wiley was one of my
earliest mentors. His newsletter inspired
me to create my own. He was already
going strong back in 1999, when I started
publishing this one.

Recently he disappeared. If you're like
me, you've missed him.

I enjoyed his hypefree writing style. And
his take on affiliate marketing..

I wish I could say he's alive and well,
but he's not. He's alive and in good
spirits. Not well, but putting up a heck
of a fight.

Recently Phil told me, "There's no cure
for what I've got, but it doesn't mean
I'll get any worse. Sir Lawrence Oliver
got it when he was 67, so if he could
handle so can I."

Good on you Phil!

If you've missed Phil like I have, stop
by his blog. Give him your support and
encouragement. You might want to
subscribe to his newsletter while you're
there, because he's the original that
started it all.

Mobile Marketing

If you've been following me on Twitter,
you've seen me tear into one purported
mobile genius after the other. It's the
same load of carp over and over again...

Me on Twitter: http:twitter.com/dmcorp

Their sites look like train wrecks on iOS
devices. And because they used Flash, or
odd MP4 formats, their videos don't play
on any of the 30 million (and growing)
iPod touch, iPods, & iPads out there.
Yes... 30 million.

You'd think that someone purporting to be
a mobile expert, would at least own an iOS
device to proof (check) their work on it.
(Grr, Rant, Steam!)

(Note: An exception would be Mobi
Blueprint offered by Gauher Chaudhry and
Kim Dushinski. In spite of their videos
not playing on mobile devices and the poor
audio quality in the videos, at least the
content is good.)

Recently, my visitors from mobile devices
tripled. It used to be around 4% of all
visitors. Now it peaks around 12%.

I'm not going to worry about making a
mobile only version of my site. If I was
doing local mobile marketing like, movie
reviews, restaurant specials, texting
coupon codes, then it would make sense.

But all I did was make it easier for
mobile devices to view my site. Now they
spend more time on it.

I trashed my old Wordpress themes and
went with Thesis. Now when you view my
site - even on the iPhone's small screen
- it looks great. The readability is there
and all the videos play as well.

If you want to learn more about Thesis,
here is my obvious affiliate link.

And if you want to learn how to create
videos that play on iPhones, which formats
players and codecs to use, you'll find
that treasure, and many others like it,
inside the Dynamic Media Vault.

Upgrading Wordpress & Themes

Speaking of upgrading Wordpress and my
theme to Thesis, I didn't do it myself. I
hired CSS sharpshooter, Wordpress design
Jedi, Amit Savyon to do the work for me.

Amit's a real pro and it was a pleasure
to work with him. So if you've been
procrastinating about upgrading to the
latest Wordpress and installing a new
theme, get Amit to do it for you.

Even if you have multiple databases,
wordpress installs, membership software,
all teetering on your domain name, Amit
can make short work of it. And if you want
to transfer the whole shooting match to
another server - like he did for me - he
can do that too.

Clickbank Tip

My favorite Clickbank tip is Easy Click
Mate (ECM). Instead of having anonymous
Clickbank affiliates, you get them to sign
up through ECM instead. That way you
know who your affiliates are. And you can
reward the best ones.

It also allows you to sell multiple
products from one Clickbank account.
Normally you have to set up a 50 dollar
account for each item you want to sell.
ECM makes it easy to sell 100 items from
100 different pages, under one single
Clickbank account.

My favorite thing about ECM is that it
builds PageRank for your site. That's
because affiliates are linking to your
site, instead of using Clickbank hop
links. Think of it... hundreds of new
incoming links. Imagine what that
could do for your rankings?

Is Internet Marketing Dead?
(Or are we just tired of all the bull * ?)

There's been a * storm over the past
couple weeks. People launching products
they didn't write. Marketers promoting
products they never saw. Marketers from
the PPC camp, suddenly claiming to be SEO
experts, etc, etc.

I've also seen a trend in marketers,
trying to distance themselves from the
evil * dudes. Yet they still smell like *
from earlier associations and their own -
less than stellar - products and launches.

It's almost enough to make me puke...

You can follow the * trail and all the
unfolding drama using the url below.
But be warned, the discussions are raw
and sometimes caustic. And it's not the
only one. Dozens of sites just like it,
are springing up, as people have had
enough bull *.

Be Warned: http://saltydroid.info/

Internet marketing, or the term internet
marketer, has gotten a bad rap. After
reading the 'Droid, it's pretty obvious
the whole IM space is in the crapper.

Who should have gotten the rap? Info
marketers, who use direct response
tactics, to manipulate you, into buying
sleazy makemoney products that they
didn't write.

The sad part is, enough chumps fall for
it, so the * marketers keep doing it.

Now... there's nothing wrong with internet
marketing per se. Properly translated, it
means the same thing as the "dirt world"
definition, "bringing products to market."

The difference is, that you bring the
product to market, over the internet,
including sales, advertising and
marketing. It doesn't have to be an
* info product for * info marketers.
It could be anything.

So, internet marketing, could mean
creating an ebook on say, salmon fishing,
or pie eating contests, or some other
niche, and selling it online, with, or
without an affiliate sales force.

And trust me, there's a lot more revenue
to be generated in niche markets, than
there is in pimping * info products to the
* makemoney crowd.

If you'd like to learn internet marketing,
and avoid the bull * , smoke, mirrors,
unicorns and the accompanying overwhelm,
please choose your teachers wisely.
Look for someone with at least 10 years
experience in research, production,
marketing, sales and advertising.

And when you're tired of the * storms.
Being pounded by offers. Tossed about
the turbulent sea, of here today, gone
tomorrow (fake scarcity... closing at
midnight... all units must be sold...
clear your cookies... take my bonus,
not theirs) gurus...
