Hi Peter

Happy 2017! What plan have you put into place to make sure this is the best year yet?

I want to talk a little bit about my own plans for 2017, which includes answering a question I got asked a lot in the second half of 2017.

As long-time subscribers will know, I have focused quite heavily on creating online courses at Udemy in the last two years. In April of 2016, Udemy changed their pricing policy for courses which made a lot of people think Udemy was not worth bothering about anymore. I stuck with them, and in August 2016, they changed their pricing policy back again. It wasn't exactly the same, but close enough to make Udemy instructors happy again. The question I got asked in the second half of 2016 was this:

"Is Udemy still worth it?"

In other words, is it still profitable to create online courses and sell them through Udemy. The answer is a resounding yes. 2015 was my first full year on Udemy and I did really well if I do say so myself. In 2016, I did even better! In 2017, I am going to be creating more courses for Udemy, but also for my own "school". You see, I hate having too many eggs in one basket when it comes to my online business, so I plan to make use of a site called "Teachable". It allows you to setup your own "school" and host your courses there. I'll be releasing more details of that a little later in the year, including the domain name I bought for my site. I bought a course on Udemy that shows how to set this up on Teachable, so am going to be working my way through that this month.

So that is a big part of my plan this year. Before I tell you what else I have planned, I wanted to mention that Udemy is having a sale on courses. If you click this link, you'll see that nearly all courses are $10 for the next few days:

Here are a couple of courses to check out while you are there:
1. Teach on Udemy- Become an Online Instructor - Unofficial
This is my course that shows you how anyone can create, promote and sell courses on Udemy. The first few preview lectures will show you screenshots of my earnings for the first few months on Udemy.
2. Create and Sell Online Courses with Teachable and Thinkific
This is the course I bought by Phil Ebiner that shows how to set your own teaching school up on Teachable (or Thinkific). It's the course I mentioned earlier that I'll be following this month.
3. Any other course you might be interested in. They are all $10 this week.

Create more course....CHECK.

What else will I be doing in 2017?

One project I am really excited about is an SEO project. I have 2 - 3 websites that I set up as part of courses on how to use Wordpress. These sites have been sitting there with very little traffic for months. I deliberately didn't get any backlinks to these sites, so I could use them for this project. My plan is to create 100% white hat links (as described in my SEO 2017 kindle book) and record what happens to the traffic and rankings. These sites are affiliate sites, so this experiment will not only show you that you can create white hat links that Google actually do like, but also prove that Google don't hate affiliates (they just hate bad affiliates).

Once these experiments have run their course, I may decide to release them as a course on white hat link building.

Affiliate Site SEO....CHECK

I've shared part of my plan for 2017. There are more parts that I won't bore you with. I would love to hear what you plan for 2017. How are you going to make it the best year yet for your business? Head on over to my website and leave your 2017 resolutions in the comments section:
